FDA proposes survey of supplement manufacturing practices
In an October 6 Federal Register notice, the FDA announced its
plan to survey a sample of 717 supplement companies, in order to develop
industry-wide good manufacturing practices (GMPs). The agency began
the information gathering process in a series of public meetings held
in Las Vegas July 12, Salt Lake City September 28, and Baltimore October
21. The FDA hopes to begin the survey in December and to produce a final
report by February 28, 2000.
