DSSC says ephedrine should not be a controlled substance.

 
  In April 17th comments to FDA on the World Health Organization's potential rescheduling of ephedrine, the Dietary Supplement Safety and Science Coalition (DSSC) stressed the history of use and safety of the ingredient, stating "ephedrine is not a controlled substance in the US today, nor should it be internationally." At a June meeting of the World Health Organization's Expert Committee on Drug Dependence, possible international control over ephedrine by the UN Convention on Psychotropic Substances will be discussed. FDA has requested comments on the availability, abuse potential, medical value and illegal trafficking of ephedrine.
